Nothing super dramatic, it all centers on such a dumb, petty thing.
So I got a verbal warning today and a threat of a write up for chronic lateness (Usually around 5 minutes late), and I accept responsibility for that and genuinely want to try and do better starting next shift, but there's a potential problem:
We use these 2 iPads on the wall (Right next to the boss' desk in full view, where he usually is) to sign in at the beginning of our shift, but they're both about 3 minutes fast.
And during his lecture, he seemed to indicate that, to him/the company, the iPad time supercedes the actual time despite it being objectively incorrect.
So even if I sign in on the dot of when I'm supposed to be there (Let's say 10:00AM), the iPad clock will still say I'm 3 minutes late (10:03AM) even though I'm not. So I'm concerned that next shift my boss will see this, give me shit for being "late" and go through with his threat.
Straight up: Even though it's "just" 3 minutes, I'm not willing to adjust my work preparation/travel schedule around this false magical 3-minutes-fast time that only my employer follows, because I shouldn't have to. It's fuckin' stupid and illogical.
I can't believe I have to say this, but the actual legal time should be what matters, not this bullshit they literally just made up.
If my shift was scheduled to start at 9:57AM, that would be a different story, but it isn't.
I guess we'll see what happens...
