Isn't it easier to lie about previous retail experience? When they test you starting out in coding you'd fuck it up easy. If you get in there and they ask you to make a for loop, you'd be all confused. If you get into a grocery store, you can just move the carts around and be fine.

As a software dev, I find it a lot easier than working in the service industry.
I have to know more but do a lot less. To me, that’s easier.
Plus any job that isn’t customer facing is way less stressful.
