      This simply isn't true, otherwise historical cases of fascist persecution of liberals and the subsequent formation of popular fronts would make no sense.

        Fascists persecute liberals for not being orthodox enough. Liberals have never resisted a fascist government internally. In fact, fascist nations usually go to war with fascist nations all the time.

          Then why did, just to take a single example, did the social-democrats in Spain take up arms with the socialists, communists, and syndicalists to fight Franco? Unless you are saying that social democrats aren't liberals. The point is that these two groups are not the same, they have contradictions between them that can be leveraged to prevent the rise of fascism.
