I didn't buy into the hype surrounding it but I played the shit out of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and was expecting it to be a more modern version of that, which it pretty much is. I've got 50 hours into it so far and I'm enjoying it. I think once it gets properly sorted out it has the potential to be great, especially if they put out decent modding tools. I think my biggest gripe with it right now is that contrived cutscene at the beginning establishing your relationship with Jackie/Misty/Viktor. They're all good enough characters but the game just sort of briefly shows a montage of you meeting them and getting to know them instead of actually developing those relationships in-game. Wtf is that about? The Judy/Panam/River/etc. relationships feel like they develop pretty naturally but then the guy who's supposed to be your best friend just gets a cutscene.
