I've never been particularly materialistic which made me the one who was "hard to shop for." It made me sad, because my family would try REALLY hard to buy me cool/nice things, but like, I'm just not wired that way. I feel bad every year because I just can't pretend to be excited about that stuff, no matter how hard I try, and I can see the sadness in their eyes when their hopes of finally getting me the "perfect gift" are dashed yet again. It's only gotten worse since I've become a leftist as now I just see the whole thing as an exercise of hollow consumerism. I don't know man, it's really bumming me out this year.

When I was a kid I used to love getting stuff and now I just don't care about things so I'm in a similar boat. I found that something that works good for me is to ask for, like, nice foods and booze and stuff like that.
