yeah - the american hegemony on media has spread the american terms for almost everything all over the place (this goes doubly for counrties that already spoke english, but is true anywhere that buys american media or even uses twitter etc).
i'm not american, but you might be right about america being fucked. From what i can see the red scare fucked you guys up severely enough that recovery is probably going to be a much bumpier road than the rest of the world will travel.
The road won't just be bumpier but longer. So long that we'll never reach a point where this is a livable society before climate change basically ends civilization as we know it
