In the start tray, search for "Disk Management" and you'll get to the partition controller. Here you can remove/uninstall the disc. You'll still wind up with broken shortcuts however.
I'm fine with broken shortcuts. The biggest problem I was having is I couldn't redownload and reinstall epic to snag those sweet free games. This fixed it, so now I don't get the "application already installed" bs. I'll work on seeing if I can recover the drive now.
