100 years ago, rednecks were badass. If their boss didn't pay them enough or treat them right, they'd burn down the factory and destroy their means of distribution. If the police or government didn't like it, well, they're dead cops.

This explanation makes sense. Same thing happened to the boomers, all the cool ones were jailed or died early if they didn't give up or sell out. Attrition bias selecting against the left in the imperial core, as always.
yeah it really stuck with me when someone pointed out that boomers suck because only people who lived in the good neighborhoods without industrial waste, and who had the money for good healthcare, and who weren't stressed all the time, etc etc made it to this point. So of course they're rich reactionaries, everyone else from their generation died from the million different toxic chemicals everywhere or vietnam or the police beating them to death or anything else.
