100 years ago, rednecks were badass. If their boss didn't pay them enough or treat them right, they'd burn down the factory and destroy their means of distribution. If the police or government didn't like it, well, they're dead cops.

Good politics aren't hereditary, they come from material conditions and the superstructure around them. With no opportunity or possibility of labor organizing, there's no more place for good politics to take root in those communities. Without good politics, you just end up with a bunch of racists. America accomplished its mission.
