I didn't get the first one because my mother claimed me as a dependent despite the fact that I haven't lived with her in years. Obviously if I get a check it'll be based on my 2020 taxes. But I have no idea if that would even be possible. From what I've read it seems like January 15 is when they stop sending checks. I can't find any info as to when you can file your 2020 taxes or even if the stimulus check can be based on that at all.
Fucking bastards, they wait months to send us a pittance and it's a shitty means tested pittance and they don't even bother telling you how to get it. My circumstances are a little unusual but how many people will be filing taxes for the first time that won't be getting checks? Can't imagine it's a small number.
if i recall correctly, it's means tested based on if you were claimed as a dependent in 2018
also if ur mum claimed you as a dependent and you can prove you aren't (which shouldn't be hard) you can
snitchfile a counterclaimsaying she committed tax fraudNah it was a genuine mistake and she's been helping me out so I'm not gonna fuck her over for $600
Nope just a genuine mistake. I think she was confused as to what a dependent actually was because it was her first year filing taxes herself since she divorced my father.
If my parents stole my check by claiming me as a dependent I would fucking threaten to report them the IRS if they didn't pay me with interest lol. I'm heated just thinking about it.
Nah it was a genuine mistake which is why I haven't made a stink about it.
I am fairly certain the criteria for receiving the check this time are the same as the previous time. They took adult dependents out at the last second :/
