Godamnit they don’t LOSE money, because they were never going to get it in the first place! As the original comic states, since you can’t buy the old games from Nintendo at all in any capacity, and there literally isn’t a method to pay Nintendo for the game, then they didn’t fucking lose money. Gamers are the dumbest fucking people I swear to god, like clearly the original creator recognizes how dogshit capitalism is, and describes it in detail, but then continues to peddle corporate bullshit. Fucking hell that shits bleak
My mom bought super mario brothers 3 like 30 years ago you bastards. You already have the money!
That is possibly what is the most so fucking rage inducing to me. Software/games have largely moved to a mostly unspoken rule of you don't actually own the game, you license it. Well then, motherfuckers, that license should extend to any version of the game I'm tryin to run, regardless of format!
And don't get me started on my entire steam library being unavailable for sharing if I'm playing a single game in the library.
Honestly, I believe anything 30+ years old should basically become a public asset. Like, nintendo could keep Mario as his stewards or whatever, but the individual games should basically be freely available if they're that old, they've already made their money.
LOL, steamboat willy is about to hit the public domain in 2024 after 96 years.
A lot of gb and gbc games are on the 3ds store. Gba is still a blind spot.
As a company Nintendo sucks ass. The artists employed by that company, however, produce some quality shit.
I just started playing Breath of the Wild on Cemu, but it pushes my PC to the max, I'd much rather be playing it on a switch. I'm just too broke to buy one. So if nintendo really wants me to stop pirating their games it should end capitalism 🧐.
have you fiddled with any of the mods/3rd party software to help it run smoother?
it took me awhile but i got it to run relatively decently on my old 970. the only issue was encountering large amounts of shaders for the first time like in boss fights.
I'm running the fitgirl package which comes with some fps mods built in I think, I can get it to run btwn 24-30 fps for the most part which I can live with. Unless you have any suggestions for other improvements?
I played it a year or so ago so they probably have new developments in CEMU but 20-30~ is about what I could do as well, and thats all it runs at on switch as well.
bsod's channel helped me out a lot configuring the emulator.
and thats all it runs at on switch as well.
Well that makes me feel a lot better. It's such a fluid game, I feel like they must have designed it to work at a lower frame rate.
Also, thinking of emulation more broadly, there are official releases of games that are objectively worse than their emulated counterparts Yup, also high-end PCs can add better effects, things the designers would have used if they were able to run it on hardware back then.
eg, BOTW in 4k with filters and HDR.
I remember going back to Final Fantasy 7 ~10 years ago. A game that probably took 12 year old me 60+ hours to beat. With frame skips I think I wrapped up everything (Knights of the Round, Ruby and Emerald etc.) in around 8 hours. There's no way on earth I'll ever play a JRPG again without fast forward.
I played pokemon heartgold on pc on an emulator fuck u who is gonna stop me
They’ve been doing this for decades while cultivating their wholesome Disney-esque branding. Remember when Nintendo tried to shut down Game Genie?
It is your moral duty to pirate all things Nintendo and spread the word about emulation. They have enough capital to run without profit for at least a decade.
MelonDS has been great for playing old DS games. I highly recommend.
MelonDS is being actively developed still, and has the ability to do 'online play'.
I remember hearing about MelonDS when it was still very much a WIP, how is it now?
It's been great for my Pokemon Platinum run. All the weird extra things like blowing on the mic, using a touch screen, and detecting if GBA games are in the DS all work, which is pretty cool.
