I'm a white passing person (grandmother is creole) whose parents gave her a name that has prompted more than one uber driver to say "I assumed I was picking up a black woman". Back when I was sending out resumes I would often wonder if HR people would take a look at my name and move right on by. I'm now in a position where I'm being recruited and I'll say this, I've never received more attention from corporate headhunters than I did this summer. Call if performative BS all you want, but I'm pretty sure the Floyd and Taylor uprisings really do have some people's attention.
