I am a history nerd but I realized I have built myself a sort-of western/Eurocentric bubble. Any recommendations for podcasts about history beyond the USA and Europe? Or any history podcasts really.
Mike Duncan's Revolutions, and Radio War Nerd are my two main ones.
I second Radio War Nerd. They make an effort to cover stuff from around the world. In particular, there's a guest host who has done several episodes on China that are very good.
Good ol Carl Zha. He does his own podcast regarding China and Asia called Silk and Steel. I've not listened to it myself, however.
Oh cool, I didn't know that. I'll have to add it to the list. Thanks!
He did a couple on the US-China trade war that were downright fascinating. I haven’t listened to too many others
Trevor Cully’s History of Persia and Chris Stewart’s History of China are pretty good. If you don’t mind a little more eurocentrism, Talking History: The Italian Unification covers a a very complicated and seldom-examined period.
If military history is something you can stomach, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. There's like one or two a year and they are like 6+ hours long. He tends to talk about empires and stuff.
Currently he's working on what is titled "Supernova in the East". It starts with Japan around the mid/late 1800's and is not deep into WWII. Its brutal.
Frontier War Stories, it’s about indigenous resistance to the invasion of Australia
This is a history podcast specifically designed to counter western ethnocentrist history. Radio War Nerd is rgeat too
