To be fair, the bench is a lot thinner for the left. For consevative Democrats, the think tank/media/lobbyist/campaign worker/consultant complex numbers easily in the hundreds of thousands, if not more. There are tons of people roughly in alignment with your candidate, who have serious experience, who you can call up and ask to work on your campaign.

There are a lot fewer leftists to begin with, and a lot fewer with any experience at a job like this. This is one reason why leftist media outlets are important -- it's a way to develop people who might work these kind of campaign jobs. That was basically Briahna Joy Gray's path to a high place in Bernie's campaign.

From what I read about his campaign I don't think his manager really had a handle on Joshua, they found out the same time we did that he was making his own dumbass party, for example. So hopefully it goes better with Lee but yeah not a ringing endorsement

You know I don't remember when the move happened in relation to the campaign, actually, but I do seem to remember that Violet wasn't really in direct contact with Joshua when the wheels really started coming off. I might be misremembering though

the rose caucus is a fake coalition that only exists online and is great at collecting donations from all over the country for unprepared spoiler candidates that couldnt get dsa endorsements and cant get above 8 points in their elections. the whole project is as unserious as the joshua4congress campaign was. turns out there's already an organized socialist coalition that does a much better job at what they pretend to be doing, it's called DSA

Good luck to him but I don't see this being allowed to succeed. Expect some real ratfuckery if he gets even close to winning

Please, Lee Carter isn't some kind of unshakeable hero. Ascending the imperial ladder and claiming that juicy racial bribe will override his idealism in favor of new class interests for sure

I mean yeah putting a ton of faith or effort in to electoral politics is a fuck. That doesn't mean we can't ever hope someone who has had decent success so far expressly advocating for socialism could be good. Deciding he's going to turn to the dark side before there's even a clue he will is pretty dumb and just leftist nihilism

He also didn't enter politics to ascend to the throne. He entered politics because he got electrocuted and got screwed afterwards:

He ended up hurting his back so badly that he could not walk more than 50 feet at a time for the next three months.

The injury was more than just painful and demoralizing: After Virginia rejected Carter’s application for workers’ compensation benefits, and his employer cut down his hours after he recovered, the situation inspired Carter to get involved in politics.

He's already getting attacked by North Virginian yuppie careerist libs, they're saying they "don't like his behavior online" and are making baseless allegations that he's rude to BIPOC who criticize him online. They're also saying the only reason he got into office was that he was unopposed in that first primary (which is an interesting way to frame the fact the DNC didn't even try to field a candidate against an incumbent Republican).

Really telling on himself by trying to silence the voice of (I assume there is at least one horrific neoliberal candidate who is also a minority), but I guess white men always have to come first huh?

There's someone in the replies giving him shit because there's a black woman allegedly "running to Lee's left". I don't know how anyone could run to Lee's left and "cis white man bad" is real dumb.

Carroll Foy initially abstained from voting on a 2020 proposal to reduce prison sentences, bringing Virginia’s “earned sentence credit” program in line with other states. She eventually voted in favor of a significantly more conservative version of the bills.

oh, can't wait to be told I'm racist and sexist for criticizing this particular vote.

Very excited for the biannual twitter meltdowns from the Governor of Virginia.

Are you confusing him with Joshua Collins? As far as I've seen Carter doesn't have "meltdowns".

He mainly just dunks on conservatives who think he wants to take their guns, despite him being pro gun.

But in Collins' case: he's autistic; meltdowns happen. Using that to deride or disqualify him is ableist.

No, I know who Lee Carter and Joshua Collins are. Lee Carter is good for about two drunk Twitter meltdowns every year.

I don't expect him to win. Obviously I hope he does. But I'm not expecting it. but I am optimistic that this can help raise his profile and raise the profile of socialism generally. socialism needs to go mainstream in this country before anything else can happen. we might not like it, but it's true.

if all that happens is a Buttigieg effect where being a candidate legitimizes him and acts as a proxy for experience in the future, I'll take it.

I'll volunteer for him, but I have small hopes of his success. The people in Virginia, at least in the population centers, are so ghoulish and lib-pilled that the Dems may not even have to ratfuck this.

His partner blocked me on Twitter for dunking on their dumb "the word 'elite' is anti-Semitic" take that they clearly had just learned from some wokescold lib and immediately took to heart without looking in to it.

Sucks because they were otherwise a good follow.

He can run for Governor and State Senator so I think his seat is safe.
