I've listened to John's podcasts for something like 10 years now (my username is actually a reference to one of his bits) nd I honestly don't think he is racist, anti-semitic, etc. He is, however, guilty of "edgy" ironic and sarcastic tweets, which have not aged well and were probably not a good idea in the first place. In all of the "Bean Dad" drama, I don't think I've seen anyone point out that he's been incredibly open about his struggle with bipolar disorder and this pile-on is kind of gross in that light . Like I told a friend, I'd probably be more sympathetic about his tweets being mischaracterized if he hadn't spent the past year mischaracterizing Bernie and other leftists. (The man recently spent a few post-election podcasts talking about how he is a proud liberal.) Anyway, this is not a hill I'm willing to die on, so that's all I have to say except don't use your real name when posting ironic comments because they will be taken out of context.

I honestly don't think the whole "figure it out" thing was that awful, even if there weren't any exaggeration—which I suspect there was. But I am old (not as old as John, but old) and I am guessing there's a generational divide here.

Figure it out is fine making it an intensely frustrating experience and making it lastbbn 6 hours was not, there's a point where the kid gets the basic mechanism but it hasn't clicked just how to hold it that's when he should have taught her seemed early on and would have been fine
