    Yeah, my dad is a tenured professor at a state school in PA. He actually just retired prior to this current semester, but he taught there for 25 years and it was a really sweet gig. I honestly can't think of anyone who has genuinely loved their job as much as he did. But since the mid-00s, he hasn't really suggested going into university academia to many of his students, because it's just not the same job that it used to be. Being in school till you're 30 just to end up as an adjunct professor making $30k with no benefits or guarantee of work from year to year while your university builds stadiums and rec centers just isn't worth it.
