I think my problem was just ordering not biryani at a biryani place , I'm just reaaaally spoiled on indian food because I grew up in a place where you had to figure out what kind of indian food you wanted, northern, southern, punjabi, and then all the differences between the different places. Like, for most of my life there was an intersection with like 4 different indian restaurants, the vegetarian one, the one with dosas, the one with meat, and the other one (maybe there were only three. i forget)

but also, yeah I really don't hate british food, just the only time I was there I was vegetarian and it seemed like every restaurant I went to their idea of "vegetarian" was just a boiled leek or some shit.

Lol it's alright this is a joke post mostly, I was just very annoyed that these dipshits put Tikka masala in the midsection but according to the comments that's more because of yougovs polling methodology

Who made this list and why are they so bad at ranking things. Yorkshire puddings are mid tier if lucky. Curry not top tier is bs. Bangers and mash above pie and mash? No.

Just seen it was made by yougov, obvious gammon taste.

Yorkshire puddings are absolutely God tier, but otherwise I agree.

Scotch eggs and haggis rating so low is racism. They're objectively God tier too.

All of the top two tier ones are classically English even though half of them suck or are just really bland. And all the non-English ones that taste way better like chicken tikka masala, rarebit, scotch egg and haggis gets ranked lower because gammons hate the taste of anything foreign (which includes literally everything in the world outside of the Home Counties).

      Cos that's what they're called.

They're somewhat rarely called ducks as well. They're basically just herbs, off-cuts and offal. Pretty decent way of eating stuff that would get chucked away otherwise. Kinda like haggis or black pudding in that regard.

I assume (and I couldn't find much info sadly) that the name comes from the same way a bundle of sticks is named. It's a bunch of stuff bound together.

To make clear, it's still a slur said in the UK. But it migrated from America after the name was already in place for cigarettes and these "meatballs".

You're much more likely to get called homo, poof or queer in the UK. And, oh boy, was getting called gay as an insult common. :deeper-sadness:

Homo, poof, and queer is more australian than Brit these days. Haven't heard any of those used in my zoomer lifetime. People just stick to gay or bender a lot of the time.

Literally everything interesting and unique is crap tier, its like every Anglo country just hates what little culture they can lay claim to and just embraces dogshit fast foods and meme foods like holy shit bangers and mash is literally just sausage and potato mash its literally not a dish its something you put together from shit you have in your fridge.

Cant these fucking people at least be proud of what little is uniquely theirs and not just a component of global capitalist food culture?

Regional foods are what everyone should look at when looking for "X nation cuisine", because whatever is universal is boring as fuck. You wanna find like actual interesting American food you gotta look for like New Orleans and cajun/creole cooking and shit like that because "American food" is just gonna be like dogshit burgers and bland apple pie.

Also sucks when some stuff falls under heavy handed rules, theres a dessert here in Sweden(probably broadly the nordics) called basically Calf Dance, and its made with the first milk produced after a cow births a calf which is unpasteurized, which means you cant sell it commercially but only directly to people, so you need to know a farmer personally to get this stuff and it makes this amazing pudding like thing which you eat with regular warm milk, some sugar and some cinnamon and its one of my favourite things on planet earth but i can only get it like once in a blue moon when some farmer my parents know sells it.

chicken tikka masala is the official British national dish because some guy was trying to make a curry but didn't have the ingredients so he just threw some things together and made the first dish of what is now called chicken tikka masala.

I really have to disagree with scotch eggs being so low on the list, and tikka masala should be right at the top.
