Clutching their pearls over how this was a dangerous coup and an act of domestic terrorism was such a great hit of that sweet moral superiority for libs. They need those hits to keep them going, because after all their politics is mostly driven by their desire to Calvinistically be the "Good People". And the Redeemed always need to have the Damned present to contrast themselves with. Highlighting how bad the Bad People are validates everything they believe about themselves.
