          You're right, "wiped out" is totally the wrong word choice. It felt weird when I typed it. The indigenous people in the United States are still very much alive.

      If I am remembering correctly each state got to choose and create 2 statues of important figures to be permanently placed in the capital.

      So Kamehameha being there is much less imperialism display and more Hawaii going “fuck you remember our history” by forcing every tour to explain who he was.

        yeah I ended up googling it, it's actually p cool. Like Kamehameha is a national hero but also the statue is a copy of a commission they did as an independent country.

        was originally done by an italian though so its not all rainbows

            I looked up Kamehameha & he's a permanent fixture cause the statue base is super heavy. So they prolly all are.
