Honesty the direction the site is going in is different then the crowd that was initially drawn to the old sub and to some extent the podcast as well. Changing the name might stymie growth some but its worth considering the kind of growth you're attracting if hexbear is intent on keeping this place more PC
I think the subreddit had some measure of cultural relevancy assigned to it that you'd lose if this was Just Some Messageboard - it's not just a matter of like, people being able to navigate to the site by name recognition.
And there's absolutely no fucking chance that changing the name is going to slow down bad posters from coming
plus hexbear is somehow even more forced than the fucking reddit alien
Sure, I'm hearing that for the first time, but also it's actually completely, fully meaningless to almost everybody, and the only reason some mods want that to be the name of the site, is that they feel some ownership over it more than they do over the double-stolen name of a Mexican druglord. They're paying 10 bucks a year for the domain name because they want to signal a fresh start, where it's their project now.

Hexbear is a glorious soviet reference

Sure. Hexagons as tags are also neat. It isn't quite as catchy as bread and roses though.
