99% of the community's audience is a result of it being named after the most successful podcast lol

The twitch channel is honestly just them leveraging their success to give a few of their friends a larger audience to be able to make a living on twitch. Outside of special events, usually it's not even the same people from the podcast, just some random gamer guys lol

I learned about the podcast from the sub. I honestly don’t even remember how I found the sub but I was lurking there for ages before learning about the podcast and I’ve never listened to it except for election night this past November, and a couple if Matt’s rambling red adidas jumpsuit streams.

I only learned about it when other subs where making a stink that T_D was banned, but so was this OTHER scary one called CTH. Then somehow been here since. It's not scary, its fun!

It showed up in my rising one day and that was around the time people started hating Bernie for not campaigning enough or some shit. I felt like I finally found a place that agreed with what I thought lol.

First they came for the listeners, and I said nothing, for I did not want to out myself as a listener.

Then they came for the posters, and I said nothing, for I did not want to out myself as a poster.

Then they came for the UwU crowd, and I said nothing, for I did not want to be associated with the UwU crowd.

Finally they came for me, and I said nothing, for I don't think I'm being detained, AM I BEING DETAINED???

IDK beatnik keeps talking about it like they're changing the domain name, but I just did a search for the domain he's talking about, and it's literally only him mentioning it on this entire site.

Galaxy brain idea. Like taking "Marx" out of your obscure strain of Marxism, just so the impure ones don't get in.

Honesty the direction the site is going in is different then the crowd that was initially drawn to the old sub and to some extent the podcast as well. Changing the name might stymie growth some but its worth considering the kind of growth you're attracting if hexbear is intent on keeping this place more PC

I think the subreddit had some measure of cultural relevancy assigned to it that you'd lose if this was Just Some Messageboard - it's not just a matter of like, people being able to navigate to the site by name recognition.

And there's absolutely no fucking chance that changing the name is going to slow down bad posters from coming

plus hexbear is somehow even more forced than the fucking reddit alien

Sure, I'm hearing that for the first time, but also it's actually completely, fully meaningless to almost everybody, and the only reason some mods want that to be the name of the site, is that they feel some ownership over it more than they do over the double-stolen name of a Mexican druglord. They're paying 10 bucks a year for the domain name because they want to signal a fresh start, where it's their project now.

Sure. Hexagons as tags are also neat. It isn't quite as catchy as bread and roses though.

Most people dislike it but there’s always a cell of a few people who still like it and every time the podcast does something dumb a few dozen of them change their mind and make big announcements about it.

        Most people dislike it

literally nothing to support this. redditors just have an outsize sense of how much normal people agree with them.

as a casual fan of the pod, its weird to me that everyone here talks about matt christman with such reverent tones but seems to hate the show

Yezhov.YourProblemIsHere, a community dedicated to discussing civil infrastructure with a special focus on urban waterways, is giving me a 404 error.

        Anyone know what happened?

If they make the new master lower quality than the original, then less effort is needed on making the fake waves and wall behind the Non-Citizen.
