it's super frustrating hearing 'that doesn't happen' when I tell people a problem exists. kinda like the recent transphobia thing.
any chance of adding reasons why a thing was deleted instead of just "deleted"? or would that be too much work to code/apply/whatever?
the people effected already know its there, this just makes it less deniable and more obvious to potential allies, and exposes gaslighters a little more clearly.
It's all in the modlog, but the modlog is a confusing mess of non-chronological info that can't be searched or indexed. So I agree, it should be easier to see why stuff was removed.
"can't be indexed" is still true, but it seems a LOT better since the remake, have you checked it out?
Yeah, I look at the modlog frequently. It still does the same thing as user profiles, where certain kinds of modlog messages appear until part-way down and stop appearing until the next page, while other types still show up. The first page ends with the original admins being appointed six months ago.
I suppose that's true, but I think the ability to set the filter-by-action to removing comments, removing posts, ban from comm and ban from site, or filter by user makes it a lot more useful than before.
More useful than before, yes
more that its there for people who aren't specifically looking. so you see insead of 'deleted post' 'deleted transphobic post' 'deleted post-violence against anprims' or whatever.
"deleted - [exact reason specified in the modlog]" would be a good change
