My shitty high school US history teacher always said "Democracies only last 200 years because that's how long it takes people to realize they can just vote to give themselves more money" as an anti-welfare argument. Interestingly enough he also believed in trickle down economics. I guess voting to give yourself more money isn't bad when rich people do it.
How do these idots think money comes into existence? Do they not realize that it's just paper printed by the government? It's not like there's a scarcity of dollar bills...(well, there is now because of the pandemic, but that's a separate problem)
