I wasn't sure about removing downvotes at first, but the site has gotten a LOT better since they were removed. There is so much less toxicity in the comment section. You can still disagree, but you have to put it out there instead of being a :LIB:

The benefit too is folks can post really bad bit posts and they still get upvoted so everyone gets to see them. It's brought back some weird parts of the old sub where you have serious leftist conversations surrounded by just the absolute weirdest meme shit ever, while also knowing that meme shit isn't going to be hateful or exclusionary or anything.

      Downvotes were a mistake

Hell yeah. Do what you gotta do. As a lurker/nonposter who adds absolutely nothing to the discourse, I support wholehearted the inclusivity of marginalized groups at any cost. "But mah free speech" is what the nazi assholes say. If your freeze peach is making other people uncomfortable, fuck off

The way you swear at other leftists and then tell them "not to be a debate bro" is really baity and unfair

@quartz242 what gives? I saw this post in modlog. It didn't seem inappropriate, and telling someone to go look at some other post in a comm they might not be in is kind of a weird response.

If a comrade says something is making them feel uncomfortable, that should be treated with extra care, and probably have an even higher bar for removal.

Because this thread isnt the place to have that conversation. I was referring to that post as a more appropriate way of expressing ones discomfort with the phrase.

Especially as the word in question wasnt used in the original post.

I also referred the commenter to a couple different comms where their post would be more appropriate and get more attention.

I was unsure of the best way to communicate that succinctly so I apologize for any confusion.

The comment was reported and I assessed the comment chain in context of the original post and agreed with the report.

Thanks for the reply. That all makes sense. It sounds like there was context that I was missing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I may not have said much about it, but to anyone that hasn't read it yet, just do it. It's a very engaging read and it can fly by pretty quick. Just go in with an open mind and like me you'll learn a few thing. I

t's also important because if you look up some of the topics brought up in the speeches, they are still plaguing the trans community today. I learned that in New York, police can use "anti-loitering statute" to target and harass members of the Trans community, especially if they are also a trans women of color.
