You'll never ever be able to change your parents mind most likely and it's pointless to try. Mao would call me liberal and rightfully so, but for the most part parents will never ever accept that their kids may have a point on them even if they're willing to admit that you're generally smarter and more well read/informed.
They also will pick really weird hills to die on. I convinced my dad (born in 61) that Stalin wasn't that bad but he held strong that McDonald's coffee lady deserved it to the point my mom cried over the argument. I'm 29 and that happened a few months ago. There's a lot of my life I just have to keep away cause most likely they are incapable nor unwilling to do anything, it'd be nice to have them on your side politically but it's not realistic. I can't even get them to vote NDP
