    The three arrows were the symbol of the Eiserne Front - the militant wing of the Weimar Republic's SDP. Originally it represented opposition to monarchism, capitalism, and fascism but the capitalism got replaced with communism when they did the heel turn in 1932.

          also monarchism was often considered to represent reactionaryism - i.e. there was still a commitment to socialism and it was an explicitly counter reactionary symbology throughout its time. even though it became somewhat factional
