It took them years to "align" with the communists and they let the Red Army bear the entire brunt of the wehrmacht death machine before opening a piddly front in Africa, then eventually Italy, then eventually France. Meanwhile, the Soviets were responsible for 80% of fascist causalities. Then, as soon as the war ended, they circled the wagons to isolate and build a defensive perimeter around their battered, heroic "allies."
