They were celebrating biden, decency and norms returning to the world. I said that there was not that much cause to celebrate. We got into a stupid argument, I asked them to name me policy differences to Bush if there were really worlds between them. I was told that there was no 911 in the last 4 years and Bush was also long ago, so it was not comparable. Then I was told that they disliked my support for trump. lol. Please help me

When we discuss domestic politics they (mainly my father) turn to laughable centrists that say: it's so complicated and I'm no expert (therefore you can't have strong stances) have you event considered many side effects, it can have unintended consequences. Therefore we support [policy of moderate conservatives]. Me: I just proposed minimum wage shpuld be adjusted for inflation Him: But have you considered countries with lower minimum wage Me:patiently explains that these are very small differences in pay for mainly essential work that cannot be outsourced or that wage costs are at least not the deciding factor Him:but have you considered that it's unfair since different plaxes have different costs of living Me:are you just stoking envy between ppl making minimum wage? You literally said everyone should be able to live comfortable from a full time job Him:no no, I just want to give it the nuance it deserves. Fairness is important Me, shakes head: Oh, I guess there we have big differences, I think it is important to have a livable wage, the rest can be figuered out later.

      How do your conversations go?

I love the "oh but unintended consequences" shit. It's like motherfucker, take a look around and tell me how those unforseen consequences would be worse than what we have now. To paraphrase the Cush man, where the fuck was this absolute paralysis in the face of the butterfly effect when they decided to invade Iraq?

I would call it concern trolling, but I don't think they're even trolling, they have internalized it
