The companies that are developing the vaccine are veterinary companies, so its not like resources are being taken away from companies that would be producing vaccines for humans. Apparently there is a very real risk that these farm minks could spread the virus to wild minks and other wildlife, which could be devastating.
But I do think that what isn't really being highlighted in the article is how cursed the fur industry is and by extension the industrial farming industry. The biggest reason this has become such a large issue is because of how overcrowded mink farms are. And you can say that for any other livestock in industrial farms. Just hope that it doesn't spread to other animals, because we all know that these people aren't going to look at the true root of the problem.
