Materially, for sure, absolutely. They swim in luxury until they become the lizards from Fear and Loathing. At the same time, I don't think their weird weepy bullshit is entirely just a cynical affectation. I think the current era really is breaking their brains, especially because their whole job precludes any kind of marxist analysis, or at least their contracts depend on them keeping it to themselves.
