Trevor Phillips is just a male Harley Quinn. Like her movie operates at the exact same logic as GTA V. You could easily do a female GTA because every character in it is just a psychopath, and the story is just that even psychopaths should have friends.
I doubt anyone would mind if they had a female gta protagonist. Like a certain segment of a segment would go apeshit but that's how they get off. I kind of get what he means with the Mafia games, nothing really stopping anyone doing a Francis Ford Coppola style game well with a black protagonist but as I understand it that game wasn't that. I watched a friend play 15 minutes of it and there was a lot of Nbombs. See its ok if you're depicting racists and not at all grating in the early 21st century.
