Allegedly its because the state is going to make its own insulin with CalRX, which would be cool. But saying that makes this redundant doesnt add up. Do you want your state made insulin to be expensive?

I suspect Newsome doesnt want redundancy because he doesnt want the state made insulin. He'll probably later sabotage the CalRX insulin production.

The people he’s trying to pander to will still think he’s a demonic satanic commie. A small fraction of liberals will be alienated. This will accomplish nothing other than a minor loss of support.

He tries his hand at standup.

"So, you might wonder why I veto good things. I'm going to make news - big news - right here, right now. I veto good things because I've already started running for president." He's surprised that there aren't oohs and aaahs. He soldiers on but he starts to stumble. "What I mean is... In 2028... I guess 'in' isn't the right preposition. 2028 is so far away! I mean for 2028." In his mind's eye there would be a surprised silence but instead he can feel he's losing the audience. He overcompensates.

"One of the governors of California was nicknamed Governor Moonbeam. That was Jerry Brown. I need to be serious. In order to get enough votes I need to triangulate. It's an occupational hazard! But seriously..."
