IDK if it was some intentional thing, but yea crazy theories get blown up and endorsed all the time so that more mundane (but true) things are swept under the rug. Hell the CIA and FBI were caught doing it in the 60s and 70s, it'd be fucking idiotic as hell to think they wouldn't do that stuff in today's world where it's a million times easier.
