A really significant portion of Jewish lore and tradition was compiled after our people were forced out of Judea and Israel following the Assyrian and Babylonian takeovers. Which is to say while we experienced the active trauma of diaspora and displacement. Now we are separated from "our land" for over 2700 years (<0.5% of the Jewish population lived in Palestine/Historical Israel prior to the modern Zionist movement) and the Zionist element claims that that land is still ours! Land that was mythologized during our period of acute displacement and persecution.

Zionists inhumanely FAIL to make the connection to the condition of current day Palestinians who were forced from their land in living memory. Which is to say, any 'historical' claim we have to Historical Israel is massively overshadowed by the comparable claims of the Palestinian people—by any valid construction of the argument.

Obviously all fascist, nationalist, and liberal discourse is disingenious and self-defeating, but learning more about my heritage and my people's history has shown me even more what a farce genocidal Zionist Fascism is!

The other issue I once saw pointed out about that lore/tradition is that it makes the assumption that the Israelites were the first peoples in the Levantine. We are talking about one of the oldest places in the world in terms of how long civilizations have existed there, so it’s highly unlikely they were the first one there, or even the second or the third.

No, we emerged from whole cloth out of the land. Our culture and claim were formed in stone when Moses descended the Sinnai.

trying to delink Jewish heritage from the modern zionist movement has lead me into so many uncomfortable situations, its comforting reading other people your post.

I haven't listened to Proles of the Minyan since 2020, but just in case you're not aware of it I used to really enjoy this podcast that you may enjoy too. they had some really good episodes on zionisism from memory

The OG Zionists were atheists who cynically and shamelessly used a religious text they themselves do not believe in in order to justify settler-colonialism.
