damn, i can't beleive the tumblr staff take their volcel pledges more seriously than a lot of us do... really says something about our society smh :deeper-sadness:
Everyone hates each other over the most nonsensical shit, so no one has the moral highground, and nothing of any importance happens there, ever. Its chaos. I love it ngl; its like watching a car crash only you know that everybody in there deserved it. There are also some really good artists and stuff, and you can tailor your feed to be comparitively pretty good (especially compared to twitter's non-chronological posts and verified bullshit), but an iconic part of the culture is the insane shit.
Also, the ad targetting system is completely broken and ineffective . This sort of shit is not out of the ordinary. I've been on this site for years and sometimes it shows me ads that aren't even in my language. Its nice to not be tracked (competently) somewhere online.
[sorry to effortpost about something so fucking dumb lmaoooo]
I sort of get the sentiment here but you don't see anything wrong with saying that the site is relatively more socialist and then saying that every user is unintelligent?
i've said it before and I'll say it again - tumblr is the only good website. fucking unparalleled posting.
They went through the unmitigated hellhole phase of social media evolution a decade earlier than every other site so they got to be a good site early
i'd agree, but the no pee-pees rule is a knock against it imo.

Why? Is it significantly socialist?
I'd say its probably a little bit more socialist than your average social media site, but then again thats not really saying much. The thing that makes it cool is that no one using it has a single braincell, and they utilise that fact to have the dumbest fucking discourse possible. Twitter drama can hurt your brain, but tumblr drama tends to be so underinformed and/or divorced from reality that it just winds up being hilarious. There was that time an edgy witch was making ~aesthetic uwu~ posts with bones she openly stole from cemeteries, the time someone sent their own literal human toe to esteemed poster "cummy-eyelids" to make into jewlery (they both proceeded to make cutesy posts about how close of a bond this was), the whole kintyping thing which had wonderfully inexplicable drama, and the truly iconic "white girl roleplays for years as an interacial pakistani-chinese muslim HIV+ lesbian couple so that she can write her hamilton hiv rpf fanfiction without being cancelled, only to be revealed when investigated by a different hamilton fic writer who had got mad bc she called them out for posting cannibalism fic - blog was then taken over by the Toy Story anti-terf bot" incident.

So it's just "good" because of its features and not because the userbase has good politics?

That was my intention, yes.
