Someone commented that "we're shooting past clean wehrmacht, past the recent innovation of clean SS and all the way straight to clean Hitler."

[edit] OK, I'll just say it - over 30k and counting. "You are like Hitler if you don't want to genocide the Palestinians".

The Holocaust was not remotely a secret to people in Nazi-occupied territory, that's a massive historical revision. There was an attempt to erase evidence as they lost ground to prevent the Allied forces from learning about what they did, or at least the full extent, but any Pole or German with eyes who was able to walk the street during the day could have told you that people were being "done away with" systemically and sometimes just killed in the street.

It's frankly disgusting to pretend that the Holocaust was some kind of secret operation except for being draped in the thinnest forms of euphemism when it was described.

even in Germany, if all your Jewish neighbors start getting disappeared it's pretty clear what's going on

Imagine voting for the guy that keeps calling jews vermin and wants them removed from germany and then all jews disappearing, I think most people know. Btw they tried to avoid building camps near the western borders, because of le international community, but the rest of the country was fair game.

Important to note that Hitler did not win that election, the liberal Hindenberg did. Hindenberg then appointed Hitler to the next highest office (in a depraved attempt to appeal to the fascists) and, during his term, died in office, at which point Hitler seized power in what you could call a soft coup.

Oh yeah, he still got a decent portion of the vote and after he spent some time as fuhrer (and purged leftists, minorities, etc) he had like 2/3 support. My point was that he was never voted into office ever. Period.

also it was pretty public knowledge that the nazis were robbing Jews and doing pogroms. Kristallnacht wasn't exactly a secret
