Fetterman immediately was endorsed by two large unions (steel workers and food service) representing 80000 Pennsylvanians. Within just two days of announcing his candidacy he has received 37000 small dollar donations from all 67 counties in Pennsylvania and all 50 states.
Fetterman was endorsed by Bernie Sanders in all of his election cycles and was one of the only people elected to high office in Pennsylvania to endorse Sanders for president in 2020.
I live in Pittsburgh. People like him here but some on the left are skeptical of his history with gentrification and police in Braddock. Libs are already starting to bitch about how he's a "white man who doesn't follow the rules." The PMC libs are probably going to line up behind AG Josh Shapiro if he runs. I think Fetterman has a good chance though because people hate Toomey, Josh Shapiro is a wet blanket, and the PA GOP is having a civil war.
I’m definitely skeptical as well. I mean he is still a dem obviously but at least having an AOC type in the senate won’t hurt, especially because everywhere it happens it sets the example that ground level left politics can be built up. After AOC’s election here in NYC no more than 2 years later we started getting socialists on city councils and state senate seats
Oh absolutely. Despite the really fair critiques of his record in Braddock, I'm supporting him 100%. He's the most left wing person in state-wide politics for as long as I can remember and he amazingly isn't tied to either the Philly or Pittsburgh democratic machines.
Anyone using skepticism of his record to vote for Shapiro (or Houlahan, or Lamb, or whoever) is obviously working on bad faith.
He's a big union guy right? Not surprised he's not pushing back against the cops. Sometimes you just gotta pick your battles.
