Pittsburgher here: Fetterman absolutely needs to apologize for this and answer for the other shitty stuff he's done (gentrification, and pro-cop shit) in Braddock.

That said, I support him 100% unless like Summer Lee jumps into the race. The alternatives in the race right now are Bidenite shit-libs. Fetterman is the most left guy in statewide politics in my lifetime.

DSA might not be the answer, but it does bring a bunch of lefties together. In my city there are like 30 left wing orgs of different persuasions but basically all of them have links to the DSA. They're useful for coordinating action. And I really respect that.

I help run a mutual aid org. The most radical thing to people when they encounter us is that we don't means test. That alone is a crazy idea for people to find in a neolib hellscape.

We're trying to start some political education stuff, I'm not sure how that will go, but we'll see. Even if it's not going to bring about socialism over night, organizing feels good and gets me involved in real ways offline.

Oh absolutely. Despite the really fair critiques of his record in Braddock, I'm supporting him 100%. He's the most left wing person in state-wide politics for as long as I can remember and he amazingly isn't tied to either the Philly or Pittsburgh democratic machines.

Anyone using skepticism of his record to vote for Shapiro (or Houlahan, or Lamb, or whoever) is obviously working on bad faith.

I live in Pittsburgh. People like him here but some on the left are skeptical of his history with gentrification and police in Braddock. Libs are already starting to bitch about how he's a "white man who doesn't follow the rules." The PMC libs are probably going to line up behind AG Josh Shapiro if he runs. I think Fetterman has a good chance though because people hate Toomey, Josh Shapiro is a wet blanket, and the PA GOP is having a civil war.

I think the left in America moves in an even more amorphous manner than the SPD or KPD did. We don't even have a focus point or two to focus left energy into so it kinda dissipates into a million different local groups. It sucks.

The beifongs are objectively shitty cops. In the first season they're established to be essentially apartheid enforcers. An all-bender police force imposing the will of an all-bender government on the non-bender majority of a settler-colonialist state.

Even after the reforms of season 1 they don't ever address the policing issue. They try to make the government more inclusive but the cops seem immune from reforms.

I like the Northeast a lot (Western PA isn't midwest, don't let anyone ever tell you that). I honestly cannot imagine living anywhere else in the country. That said, the politics tend to be soooooo crushingly lib because every upper/middle class white family has some shit head who went to a prestigious university and then fell into the DC bubble. That shithead drives back to Western PA or whatever and tells the out-of-work steel workers that their lives suck because there's not enough tax credits for them to have more shithead kids in the DC bubble.
