Was trying out Victoria 2 after a long time of not touching it, installed HPM and looked up some guides to try to re-learn how ideology worked. Came across a post with this picture and found it unintentionally hilarious.

"Nuuuuu not my bourgeois burgerino democracy! The settler-colonial dream is ruined forever! The huddle masses shall no longer yearn to breathe free!

African-Americans? Native-Americans? Women? Workers? The millions of European refugees come next world war? What are those?"

Hearts of Iron is literally "play as Germany and do what the Nazis couldn't, we wont mention the Holocaust because we don't want you to feel bad". It's still a great game and I will continue playing them forever, but it's telling players to go be the bad guy. It even buffs Germany to insane levels, like the USSR has a shit army when the game starts, also the Purges severely cripple you for quite some time, meanwhile the absolute dogshit operational/strategic decisions made by the German High Command are not represented in the game as any sort of "debuff" or "national flavour", generals like Guderian and von Manstein (which were kinda dumb irl) are super great and have great stats.

When you write AARs in the forums, you can't mention what happens with prisoners, civilians or anything related to war crimes (At least, you couldn't, back in the day). There are a FUCKTON of people LARPing as some shit fascist Spain reconquering the Americas and since the true face of fascism can't be exposed, the horrendous tendency to commit genocides, they get away with it, they get to be the "clean guy, we're just conquering lol" when in reality they're just cancer. This is one of the reasons of why I like TNO, the mod just tells you: "Yo, Fascism and Nazism sucks balls and here are 80000 reasons why", if fash are playing TNO thinking "Yo, Himmler is great lmao I love Burgundian systems now" they're fucking idiots, like those who don't get the point of Fallout.

It's a shame because Hearts of Iron are good games, but Paradox is missing (on purpose?) a MASSIVE opportunity to show why Nazism sucks through a fun videogame, why it's a broken system that will NEVER work. Eh, but I guess g*mers don't need to think too much about that...
