EDIT: Like, using the "Five-colored flag" as a theme for a balkanized China makes no sense. The entire point of that flag is uniting Han, Mongols, Manchu, Uyghers, and Tibetans together.
I still think they were trying to use the Manchukuo flag which is based on the 5 color flag but emphasizes the Manchu yellow, but it didn't work after stretching it to to fit the borders like they did with the other regions, so they moved the four stripes to the middle and messed it all up.

The Fengtian clique just used the Beiyang 5 colors flag, which this isn't because it's missing yellow.
