On Citations Needed I've heard them make a point a couple of times about how, often, the problem with a story manifests in what's being emphasized as much if not more than the content of the story.
I can't remember exactly how they phrase it, though. Do any of you remember how they put it?
Not sure the exact phrasing, but one thing they point out is how the media uses passive voice to defuse responsibility from those in power. So instead of “Police shoot and kill unarmed man” the headline is “man killed in police involved shooting”.
