Jack Ma stopped hosting a reality show and didn't do public appearances for a month and everyone decided he'd been disappeared. And then he showed up again and oops, no corrections.

jack ma is literally in the chinese communist party if i recall

No shit. He's a highly influential figure in Chinese commerce. Of fucking course he's in the CCP. Membership is prestigious and coveted in China and it puts you on the fast track to success.

            I mean... StalinErasedAGuy.jpg

Being a party member doesn't save you from getting an icepick to the head if you piss off the wrong dude.

But you really would think they Khashoggi'd this guy when he was more likely just forced to write "I will not cooperate with the CIA" a thousand times on the blackboard, while a stern sexy looking school teacher tapped her riding crop in her hand next to him.

This is interesting to watch for sure, since tech/internet seems to be one of the few sectors in China that isn't dominated by state firms (unlike energy, food, heavy industry, construction, or even finance) but controlled instead by private capital monopolies.

Also I'm not seeing credible sources saying that China is actually in process of nationalizing Alibaba (they freaking should—would love to see the meltdown cries of 国进民退 “THE STATE IS IN ADVANCE WHILE PRIVATE OWNERSHIP IS IN RETREAT!!!" ). I know they are hitting them hard with anti-monopoly laws (someone show it to Liz Warren lol).

Even if they nationalize them it doesn't stop certain exploitation. I mean state owned corps on the B&R initiative hire private security cough mercenary cough companies all the time that are the same corps hired by western companies.

Why did they like Jack Ma tho

I'm pretty sure most redditors disliked Jack Ma and it was one of the reasons to dislike China...

Apparently Jack Ma has been seen golfing at Hainan (the little southern Chinese island), but eyewitness reports aren't the most reliable testament ever.

My colleagues and I have been studying and thinking, and we have become more determined to devote ourselves to education and public welfare.

        looks like that indeed
