At least compared to elsewhere. I constantly see cool shit coming out of Philly. I'm sure there's a long history of left activism, but can someone fill me in on why Philly is based?
Philadelphians have a skull shape that makes them naturally predisposed to throw batteries at people and set things on fire. It's just that sometimes those batteries are thrown at the right people and the right things are set on fire.
Actually, I'd be interested to learn this too. My knowledge pretty much begins and ends with the MOVE bombing (an example of the wrong things being set on fire, to be clear).
There’s just a fantastic aura around Philly honestly. I spent quite a few years of my young adult life living there and it just felt like everybody was frustrated as soon as they left the house. It was like the anti-Disney World and I mean that in the absolute best way possible. Simultaneously the nicest and meanest people in the world depending on the vibe you give off. Also philly’s food is fucking great and not overpriced the same way it will be in NYC
Among the other reasons listed, it has a very high black population. Not to do the liberal demographics is destiny bit, but the black community in America has a history of radical politics so I think it's certainly a factor in left wing organizing.
They booed Santa because Philadelphians understand Christmas is a bougie holiday.
Honestly it's prob because of Philadelphia's black population and unionization. Oakland also has a history of radical activism as well. Both great cities. We love them folks, we love them.
