The Manhattan District Attorney's Office on Tuesday dropped the misdemeanor criminal charge against Amy Cooper, the White woman who called police on a Black man in Central Park last May, after she completed education and therapy classes on racial equity.
Community service, maybe in combination with whatever program she completed, probably would have been the best approach. At least with community service she would have done something productive for society -- it's too easy to just say the right things in a "you know, racism is bad, actually" course.

Community service should be done in a setting that builds empathy, specifically with those against whom the crime was committed.
