I'm watching it now, and just noticed something. He says that his desk is in the middle of the room instead of on the edge of the room like he planned, but he likes it and it'll probably stay that way. One reason he mentioned is that he likes that he has a view of the kitchen. Just a guess, but could it be that he likes looking at something with at least some visual interest instead of the bare white walls of the rest of the space?
He keeps saying that he likes the bare walls and simplicity, but I don't think he actually does. I'm not saying that he has to fill his space with clutter and things he doesn't need, but everything he's added to the room is black, for heaven's sake. It isn't decadent to at least have some color! (And a second mug and set of silverware so you can share a meal with someone.)
Exactly. Also super funny that the title says “no possessions” as he’s sitting next to a bed and typing on a computer. I’m not saying one shouldn’t have them. But don’t lie lol

Yes, that’s exactly what it is. And it also is the only thing that isn’t bland because of its awkward positioning.
