Love living like I've just walked into a hotel room
Also he has an air fryer and an oven as if an air fryer isn't literally a small convection oven and nothing else. Not very minimalist.
This was my first thought. Straight up looks like an airbnb. :whywhywhywhywhy:
men will literally live like this and not see the issue
I'm watching it now, and just noticed something. He says that his desk is in the middle of the room instead of on the edge of the room like he planned, but he likes it and it'll probably stay that way. One reason he mentioned is that he likes that he has a view of the kitchen. Just a guess, but could it be that he likes looking at something with at least some visual interest instead of the bare white walls of the rest of the space?
Yes, that’s exactly what it is. And it also is the only thing that isn’t bland because of its awkward positioning.
He keeps saying that he likes the bare walls and simplicity, but I don't think he actually does. I'm not saying that he has to fill his space with clutter and things he doesn't need, but everything he's added to the room is black, for heaven's sake. It isn't decadent to at least have some color! (And a second mug and set of silverware so you can share a meal with someone.)
Exactly. Also super funny that the title says “no possessions” as he’s sitting next to a bed and typing on a computer. I’m not saying one shouldn’t have them. But don’t lie lol
Hey, let's be fair to Patrick Bateman. He had plenty of art, some natural lighting, and far more furniture.
I have enough space in my place (for the first time since I was a child) to not have any screens in my bedroom. and enough room to have a yoga mat, stretch easily, so the room has that kind of open feel. I thought this was minimalism.
apparently I need to pull down the photos, posters, art, and wall fabrics and get rid of the nightstand/dresser. and put the mattress on the floor, or better still just get rid of it and have a folding chair to sleep sitting up in. and hang a portrait of my father on the wall opposite the chair, for spiritual and/recreational purposes.
Minimalism is cool and all, but you don’t have to set it up to make sure you have no friends or partners to enjoy the space with. I don’t even have a ton of stuff and often I feel anxiety from having too much so I can relate to the appeal of minimalism, but this sucks
I hate clutter and strive not to hang on to things that I really don't need, but I would never give up or avoid a hobby in the pursuit of keeping less stuff (which is what it seems like this guy does).
There’s a lot of British flags in that video. Talking about how much he grinds at being an entrepreneur and his work life is the most valuable thing. Not having anything that’s setup to enjoy the space with other people: couch, extra plates and silverware, games. And yeah he’s totally devoid of any personality. So minimalism and his computer becomes his personality. Sad really
This is the kind of guy who asks you to grab a drink after work, then just gets a coke at the bar and is on his work phone sending emails while not talking to you for half an hour, at which point he says that he has to go home to do more work.
And... the wall street bull... to remind him how much the markets are... bullish.
Is this like a very advanced bit or something? I honestly can't tell I'm high.
Cool, I'll just buy and throw away any thing I need at any given moment, no need to be such a hoarder
I only own a MacBook, a white linen robe, sandals, and one pair of chopsticks.
The toothbrush is communal
This is literally a scene in MGS2 when Kojima depicts how society is designed to create insane people.

The first 2-and-a-half minutes. For context, Jack is the pinnacle of a person who has been funneled through the artificial cultural system created by America.

idk if IDP's reading of this scene is the obvious one. in the context of the game, Raiden is a former child soldier and a classic tabula rasa game protagonist, who by the end, resolves to seek out his own meaning in a complicated world rather than simply being a passive conduit for the wills and desires of others.
this is just embarrassing, repulsive, and lazy, and i say that as someone who lives simply, no cellphone, etc. Imagine being this white bread of a person incapable of using imagination. Western culture has made it's people sick.
The fucking guy has a separate laundry basket for clean clothes cause he can't fold them.
he also wears the same black v-neck t-shirt and black pants literally everyday...his video explaining why is pure baby brain and even worse than this video.
This guy is legitimately a fucking cartoon character man what the shit. For those who don't want to watch this video, his main reason was basically that since there is one set of clothes you prefer you should just wear that exact outfit every single day for years at a time because you'd like that outfit so much you'd cum every time you put'em on or something. And oh, it makes you more productive. :hillary-disgust:
Exactly, you don't wear the same shit to meetings, dates, gym, and chilling at home.
I don't see the problem there. Fuck folding clothes it's pointless.
I don't care about folding but at least have them separated so you can tell what you're grabbing.
I used to have a bowl, but then I saw an orphan child drinking from their hands so I threw it away.
When your aesthetic is a third rate art museum from 2002. Without the art.
(Also he lives in a massive apartment. Is that how big apartments are in the US?)
