    I'm not american, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't social security the thing that supports old people? So he's just alienated the only group that consistently votes

    I was still kind of assuming he'd manage a win somehow, but does this not completely fuck him?

      The cool thing about America is that, like everything else, access to the years between 55 and death is determined by how much money you have

      The older you go, the less poor people there are of that age

      I think his idea is that his supporters don't make the connection between the payroll tax and the social security and Medicare benefits they pay for. And they would probably find a way to phase out the benefits so people don't notice it until 2025.
