I hate to say it, but that 2nd quote has a bit of truth to it. Mussolini started off a socialist and grew disgruntled with its "egalitarian views", and invented his own 'nationalist socialism', while mentioning that he still embraced some concepts like "one-party dictatorship".
Of course, just because fascists like something doesn't mean its automatically a bad thing. That sort of black-and-white thinking is best left to disney movies, and is particularly dangerous because it encourages the attitude of "When fascism arrives, nobody will fall for it because of how obviously evil it is".
That said, I'm an anarchist, and fuck exclusive political domination of any single party that represses any dissenting thought.
But this is all particularly important because fascism does answer many complaints those against capitalism have, so its never a good idea to just assume "With capitalism failing, people are bound to turn to socialism", because they might just turn to "national socialism" instead.
edit: Mussolini might have used the term "Nationalist Syndicalism", now that I'm thinking about it.
and fuck exclusive political domination of any single party that represses any dissenting thought.
fascists and monarchists and reactionaries should have their dissenting thoughts repressed. CMV.
Anarchists think that the one party dictatorship is primarily for suppressing them lol.
One big issue is that to those doing the repression, everyone begins to look like "a counter-revolutionary" to them, resulting in things like workers striking for "more autonomy, more equality of wages, right to form their own unions, right to democratically choose their own leaders" being massacred by a "socialist worker's state"
Plus, look at the Streisand Effect and such. Often by trying to ban something, you just end up drawing more attention to it. Repression often has the exact opposite effect of what its trying to accomplish.
Ok great, equality for Nazis, wouldn't want a bunch of racists to get owned just because they want to make a union.
Yeah cuz these are totally the kind of demands a nazi would make
In view of the fact that the present Soviets do not express the will of the workers and peasants, immediately to hold new elections by secret ballot, the pre-election campaign to have full freedom of agitation among the workers and peasants; To establish freedom of speech and press for workers and peasants, for Anarchists and left Socialist parties; To secure freedom of assembly for labor unions and peasant organizations; To call a nonpartisan Conference of the workers, Red Army soldiers and sailors of Petrograd, Kronstadt, and of Petrograd Province, no later than March 10, 1921; To liberate all political prisoners of Socialist parties, as well as all workers, peasants, soldiers, and sailors imprisoned in connection with the labor and peasant movements; To elect a Commission to review the cases of those held in prisons and concentration camps; To abolish all politotdeli (political bureaus) because no party should be given special privileges in the propagation of its ideas or receive the financial support of the Government for such purposes. Instead there should be established educational and cultural commissions, locally elected and financed by the Government; To abolish immediately all zagryaditelniye otryadi (Bolshevik units armed to suppress traffic and confiscate foodstuffs); To equalize the rations of all who work, with the exception of those employed in trades detrimental to health; To abolish the Bolshevik fighting detachments in all branches of the Army, as well as the Bolshevik guards kept on duty in mills and factories. Should such guards or military detachments be found necessary, they are to be appointed in the Army from the ranks, and in the factories according to the judgment of the workers; To give the peasants full freedom of action in regard to their land, and also the right to keep cattle, on condition that the peasants manage with their own means; that is, without employing hired labor; To request all branches of the Army, as well as our comrades the military kursanti, to concur in our resolutions; To demand that the press give the fullest publicity to our resolutions; To appoint a Traveling Commission of Control; To permit free kustarnoye (individual small scale) production by one's own efforts.

IIRC it was more that despite being raised by a socialist and running in those circles, he had a national chauvinist streak and was an ardent supporter of Italy entering WWI, which led to him being ostracized and routinely mocked by other Italian socialists, which led to him becoming a far-right militant and gaining the support of the Italian bourgeoisie and aristocracy by murdering and suppressing the left. He's basically the 1920s equivalent of the sort of quasi-left chauvinist libertines who went full fash when Gamergate happened.
That’s so sad. Like, how can someone growing up in a socialist environment turn natural chauvinist? Even in America, apparently Pete and Kamala come from socialist households and just look at them :(
represses any dissenting thought
I actually agree. Like, I get the argument some socialists make about CIA infiltrating and starting a civil war or whatever from within in the poorer, weaker states. But I think at a certain point you have to start relaxing and introducing more free speech, especially critical speech.
On the correct handling of contradictions among the people does a pretty good job of talking about this.
A lot of libs still think the Black Panthers were a black nationalist terrorist gang. If they think maoism is fascist then they likely also learned the history of the Black Panther Party from the FBI.
Yo who the fuck is that person and why do I keep seeing them everywhere
