Most of us literally don’t care about them. Why are so many of you attached the the podcast? It’s dying as we speak. And the sub literally died. The name makes no sense at this point.

This is named after the subreddit not the fucking podcast

That’s pedantic. The sub was based off the podcast and by including it in the name it also still gives sus affiliation with the podcast whether or not that’s how you think about it.

It's not pedantic, the sub changed from being about the podcast to about its own thing. This is named after the thing the subreddit evolved into.

And like, it doesn't even CONTAIN "TRAP HOUSE" ANYMORE.

You might as well say we're named after El Chapo, and that we really need to distance ourselves from the Sinaloa cartel.

There ya go. Now we have quite a few good reasons to change the name.

            El chapo

            Unnecessary affiliation to a podcast

            Attached to a dead subreddit

Doesn’t say anything about the people that currently uses this site

no thats an example of a terrible reason, an intentionally silly reason

Not really its just not something you think about, but it probably turns a lot of people off who only know chapo from that one person and that’s the origin of the podcast name .

That is outweighed by like, miles, compared to picking a name that just fucking dissolves into the ether, just words bleeding straight off the screen. Like, I would love to hear a smart name for this site, but nobody has done it.

The chapo name has a meaning understood by millions of people.

There are literally just two requirements:

                  1. Slightly funny or edgy

                  2. Recognizable as leftist

Go look through the poll on c/main alternatives. There’s some good ones

It's not good enough to change the name in my opinion, but it's certainly better than Hexbear

Obviously. Nothing is for you because you want it to stay the same because you have an attachment to it. That’s fine

That's not true, I would change it if someone had something great. It's not a moving goalpost, it's just a high bar because changing the name just makes it that much harder to spread the site and talk about it. I'm not "attached" to it beyond its functional advantages over various random-ass names.

It can't even be *as* good as chapo.chat, it actually has to be substantially better if it's going to be worth a name change.
