Can we get some relief hype going for a vindicated comrade? Thank god the micro brewing child was an op! Now go scrub your posting history libs.

is 'guilty until proven innocent' really the only alternative?

If siennasae had provided one shred of easily-obtainable evidence that the events she described actually happened (skype logs, pictures of alleged gifts, evidence of police involvement, etc) Beatnik would have been thrown to the wolves. With IRL allegations this type of evidence can be much harder to come up with, but given that most of Beatnik's alleged interactions happened online, this should be easy to obtain and provide.

Her claims that TC69 changed her password and read her DMs were the final nail in the coffin, as those are impossible for an admin to do. We can't be 100% certain the claims are fabricated, but we can be 98% certain. We haven't violated any principles.

I still think we shouldn't celebrate it.

Insulting the accuser and praising the accused is still going to alienate victims. Even if they were false accusations, be an adult and move on.

It's fine to not take action when there's no reason to. That's what the mods did. However, while these accusations remain unproven, they haven't been completely disproven. Same with the accuser being a troll. There's no solid evidence for that.

I know we have (had?) some Chapos who had survived sexual violence and I'd like to hear their opinions on the situation.

Nah, we're stuck between allowing wreckers to dictate how the community is run, or saying fuck the wreckers.

I say fuck the wreckers. If this community is going to be slandered off the back of false accusations, then there is no action we could take that would satisfy the wreckers.

As long as the situation has been handled to the satisfaction of our community and marginalized people/victims still feel safe coming forward with issues, then the mods have done their jobs excellently.

We have to take any accusations at face value.

No we don't, it's literally the opposite.

Ok will you just take a minute and reread the accusations with a less credulous eye? I’m not saying be skeptical of all accusers but I’m just saying knowing what we know now about what Beatnik had available online. It was a ridiculous story from the jump.

We have to overhaul our personal opsec and lie more about our lives online (which is fun). Those are the best things to takeaway IMO. That and Beatnik is (hopefully) not a sex pest. Jury is still out on all of you in my book!

And in all seriousness being doxxed is scary and sucks. Beatnik is putting themselves out there helping run the site just like the entire mod team. I know where my solidarity is and it’s not with the obvious wrecker who possibly even broadcasted there intent to do something this shitty.

We’ll never be able to tell with 100% certainty whether or not the accusation was false

Yea but we basically can. There's been a really thorough investigation taken place, so at that point we should fall back to "innocent until proven guilty"

I agree with the decision to "quarantine" the accused until that investigation has taken place, but after that point there's no reason to make the wrecker's job even easier!

It's not been disproven. The investigation, from what I've seen, was asking for proof and not getting any. That still leaves all possibilities open.

You’re right that we can’t know anything about anyone online 100%. But it’s kind of an unnecessary existential crisis to say we can never know if someone is guilty or innocent. I think in order to function we have to assume 99% innocence, if that makes sense. Emotionally speaking it’s difficult, especially if you know what it’s like to not be taken seriously, but I think it’s important to not let that cloud empathy for the wrongly accused. Consider all the innocent people thrown in jail because of false accusations, almost always through racist and classist narratives. (West Memphis Three, Central Park Five) Take everything with a grain of salt, not a 100 kg of salt. If evidence leans in one direction (even though it is ultimately unverifiable either way) it makes the most sense to treat it as the truth.
